Here you are in the pure, pristine jungle where the peace is interrupted only by singing birds, croaking frogs and sometimes howling monkeys. The banks of the mighty Suriname river with her sandbanks, islands and rocks, are where the native inhabitants still live. The lives of the Amerindian tribes and the Maroons have been little affected through the centuries. They still live here according to their time-honored traditions and make use of what nature has to offer them.

Overbridge River Resort is but an hours drive from Paramaribo. The drive is over a well maintained laterite road which winds through hills and marshes, and is surrounded by dense tropical forest where the early morning mist lingers. Every now and then you are able to see a frightened deer, a rabbit, a retreating wild boar or a colony of spider monkeys crossing the road. In the swamps you will find various fish, such as Krobia’s, Pataka’s and Sriba’s and in the river the Toekoenari, the Koebie and the pikes or the tarpons.

For the safety of our guests the swimming section is screened off by nets.
